After 3 days of strong winds , heavy downpours of rain, the waste oil heater has survived the challenge, however water has managed to get into my 44 gallon drum, which is annoying to say the least.
I filled a 20 litre container only to find the fire wouldn't go correctly for 1/2 the day. Spitting and sparking the old bacon cooking sound.
So all i did was tilt the 20 litre container back onto a piece of 4x2 lifing the outlet up, so any water falls to the back of the container, heater is better after doing that. Radiator is now 70c and doing it's job of heating the house.
So we don't need all these water catching filters afterall.
Hope this helps you.
